Cody Curtis

Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Actor (Owen)

Cody Curtis has been involved with the arts, whether that is theater, music, or film since the age of five. Suffocation will be the third film he has directed (In The Midst of Mountains and Judgement were the others, both produced at the University of Southern Maine), and the second film he has penned the script for (The other was Judgement). Some of the other films he has been involved with are the shorts Daisies on Fire, Something About a Bike and the King of Hearts production of Wrong Lanes. Cody could not be more excited to be working with such a phenomenal cast and crew and is excited to see the possibilities and opportunities this film will create.

Campbell Gibson
Actor (Jasmine Black)
Campbell Gibson is from Clinton, Maine and is a senior Theatre major and
Dance minor at the University of Southern Maine. A few of her other roles at USM include Cecilia Payne in The Women Who Mapped the Stars, Mariane from Tartuffe, Adele’s u/s in A Man of No Importance, and Curio in Twelfth Night. She also directed Almost, Maine with the Student Performing Artists (SPA) last semester, was sound board operator for Turn of the Screw, and wardrobe crew for Unlock’d and The Importance of Being Earnest. She hopes you enjoy this  production and that it brings some light into the world during this time. She wants to thank her parents, family, and and passion and love for the arts!

Travis Harden


Actor (Zachery McTavish)

 Travis Harden is a senior theatre major at the University of Southern Maine, he is fairly new to the theatre world but his past experiences have been as Pete in Almost Maine, and Lennie in Of Mice and Men, he has also been a part of  number of ten minute short plays done through USM, and will be participating in a month long musical theatre intensive program. He is very excited to be a part of this project because throughout this script you get to see how all the different characters deal with anxiety and depression, with both healthy and unhealthy methods. He feels that it's very important for people to be able to talk about these things, so that people can see that no matter what they're going through, there are always people around who care about you and want what's best for you. 

Bailey Hall
Make-Up Specialist, Actor (Elizabeth Johnson)
Bailey Hall is a senior Theater Major at USM. She has been in many theatre productions in the past, such as The Love of the Nightingale as Philomele, Fiddler on the Roof as Tzeitel and Twelfth Night as Viola. This is her first official film, and she is happy to be part of such a lovely and enthusiastic cast. 
Maverick Keegan
Actor, Production Design (Ted )
Maverick Keegan is from Upstate New York, but has come to call Maine home after graduating from the University of Southern Maine with degrees in Communications and Media Studies.  He writes poetry and screenplays and hopes to one day bring them to life. In his free time, Maverick enjoys watching football and basketball and looks forward to the time when he can return to watching live music shows.  
August Thornton
Actor (Jeremiah)
August Thornton is 20 years old and is from Jay, Maine. He is a current junior studying theatre at the University of Southern Maine where he has played as Ellard in The Foreigner, Tereus in Love of the Nightingale, Mr. Loyal in Tartuffe, and Mr. Sock in the ten minute play of Mr. Sock; An American Badass. Other memorable characters he has played outside of college goes from being Scuttle in The Little Mermaid for Nezinscot Valley Community Players, Billy Ray Junior in On Golden Pond at the Mystic Theatre, Jake Donahue in Papermaker, at OHMPAA Theatre, and as himself in the Public Theatre’s seasonal teenage production of How to Act Like a Child. August has been fortunate enough to work with Cody Curtis beforehand where he played as Jeremiah in his short film called, Judgement.
Wendy Ducas
Actor, Slate (Tessa)
Wendy Ducas is an undergraduate student at the University of Southern Maine. She has been an avid performer her entire life and plans on continuing on that track. In high school she obtained her Pro Tools certification, played a variety of instruments, acted in musicals and plays all four years, and was the light and sound technician for many events throughout the community. Wendy plans on working in the performing arts for both performance itself, and the technical side of the profession. She's very grateful and excited to be a part of a project supporting an amazing cause, and to be able to do great things with her friends.
Jared Vigue
Actor (Patrick A.K.A College Boy #1)
Jared Vigue is a student currently enrolled in the theater department at the University of Southern Maine. He is an actor, writer and an overall creative person. He has been part of performing arts since he was little and considers himself a storyteller, who only wants to tell important stories. He is overjoyed to be part of the Suffocation cast and is even more excited to be telling this story.
Connor Hall
Actor (Joshua A.K.A College Boy #2)
From Portland, Connor Hall is an actor, dancer, and overall aspiring entertainer. He is currently entering his freshman year at USM, majoring in performance theater and minoring in dance.
Stephen Bennett
Actor, Producer (Derrick A.K.A College Boy #3)
Stephen Bennett is a filmmaker and media producer from Portland, Maine. He recently graduated from the University of Southern Maine’s Media Studies program; and has a decent amount of experience directing, shooting, editing, and producing short form content. On Suffocation, Stephen will serve as a Consulting Producer where he will help guide logistical decisions and ask the difficult questions. In his off time, he enjoys writing songs, going to the beach, and sometimes going on a run when he doesn’t want to feel like a slug.
Garrick Hoffman
Actor, Photography (Neil A.K.A Customer #1)
Garrick Hoffman is a photographer, writer, musician and graphic designer living in the Portland, Maine area. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 2020 with a Bachelor's in Media Studies. He's been doing freelance photography and writing for Mainely Media newspapers since May 2017, and for two years he worked as the marketing coordinator, photographer and social media manager for all three of Gritty McDuff's popular brewpubs. Garrick has worked on several films, including the award-winning King of Hearts Films short film, Wrong Lanes, for which he did behind-the-scenes photos, poster design, and press releases. In the same year (2020), he wrote and starred in his first film with USM students, "In The Midst of Mountains". In the fall of this year, he'll be working on another King of Hearts Films production, this time a feature-length project.
David-Bass Clark
Actor (The Director)
David-Bass Clark is delighted to return to South Portland after living abroad in Shanghai for four years. Recent credits include Fleet in Titanic and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls. He is excited to be a very small part of this amazing cast and crew!
Bodhi Ouellette
Director of Photography

Bodhi T. Ouellette is a filmmaker born and raised in South Portland, ME, and works professionally in the Portland, ME area, as well as having worked in New England, and as far as New Orleans. Ouellette is a graduate from Portland Arts & Technology High School's (PATHS) New Media program in 2016, and a graduate of Southern Maine Community College,  with an associate's degree in Communications and New Media in 2019. His skill sets are extensively set in the Camera, and Grip & Electric Departments, and has worked on countless commercials, music videos, and local short films. Recently, he has grown into the role of a Director of Photography and has shot many short films including: Begin Again, Genesis 23, Homecoming, and The Final Rays of Crimson. Ouellette is eager to be working on this film as his first feature film to shoot. 

Emily Bartley
Actor, Script Supervisor (Stage Manager)
Emily Bartley is a sophomore at the University of Southern Maine and is studying Musical Theater with a minor in dance. She has performed in a variety of shows including, but not limited to, Janet Van De Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone, Kitty in Conform!, Cinderella in Into the Woods, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress, and Alex in The Velveteen Rabbit. Emily would like to thank everyone who has helped her pursue her dreams through the years specifically her parents, family, and friends.
Steven Johnson
Assistant Director, Producer
 Steven Johnson has served as a Director, 1st AD, Producer, and Actor on productions through connections he has made at the University of Southern Maine’s Media Studies program. The highlights of my Media Studies education have come through hands-on experience and I’m excited to bring what I’ve gotten from USM to the fold as 1st AD with Suffocation."
Delanna Swett
Actor ( Jessica A.K.A Customer #2)

"Delanna Swett is a 22 year old actress, director, and editor from Scarborough , Maine. Delanna is a graduate from Portland Arts & Technology High School's (PATHS) New Media program in 2016. Swett also graduated from Southern Maine Community College and has an Associate's Degree in Communications and New Media. Swett is a camera operator at WMTW channel 8 news. Delanna has always had a strong passion for acting, filmmaking, and video editing since a young age. Swett continues to pursue her dreams and grow her connections in the film industry community."

Christopher Fyfe
Associate Producer, Composer
Christopher Fyfe is a Retired Police Chief. He has been a Multi Award Winning Musician, Entertainer, and an Actor/Director for over four decades. He is also an Editor, Colorist, VFX Artist, Sound Engineer & Recordist. Christopher has worked on several Indie & Student Films, and also worked on the 20th Century Fox film "X-Men 3 The Last Stand", as well as projects from Paramount, Warner Brothers, and other notable International & U.S. based Film Production Companies. He is the CEO of White Pine Digital Studios & Fyfe Media Company.
Savannah Leavitt
Actor (Tabatha)
Savannah Leavitt is an avid admirer of the arts; she loves to sing, dance and act whenever and wherever she can. Prior to her appearance in Suffocation, she acted as an extra in a short film entitled Nostalgia written and directed by August Thorton. Her love for the arts was first sparked with her involvement in the drama department at Buckfield Jr. Sr. High School during her high school career. Since graduating she has been actively involved in community theaters in her surrounding towns including Buckfield, Norway and Monmouth. A few of her roles include: “Miss Casewell” in the Monmouth Community Players’ The Mousetrap, “Crystal” in Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts Association’s Little Shop of Horrors, “Millie” in Nezinscot Valley Community Player’s Thoroughly Modern Millie and “Natalie” in Oxford Hills community show All Shook Up. Her other hobbies include reading, reciting poetry and photography although there is little time for those as she is also a mother of three sons. She wishes to add that the subject of mental and emotional health is of great importance to her and hopes that any and all who witness Suffocation receive its message of hope; for hope is never lost. Sondheim wrote it best, No one is alone.
Aaron Kircheis
Assistant Make-Up, Actor (John)
Aaron Kircheis  is a Junior, Musical Theater Major at the University of Southern Maine from Bucksport Maine. Aaron is known for his roles in USM’s productions of: 35 MM a Musical Exhibition (“Hemming and Hawing”), Unlock’d (Inconstantine/Edwin Understudy), A Sondheim Birthday Bash (“Agony”-Into the Woods, “Not Getting Married Today”-Company), and Dear Edwina (Billy). Aaron also sings as a Tenor in the University Chorale, and studies voice with Alexandra Dietrich and Ed Reichert. Aaron will also be performing in the Universities upcoming opera production of Mozart's: The Magic Flute, as the Evil Monostatos. The production will be in April of the Spring Semester.
Erik Hyatt
Actor (The Manager)
Erik Hatt is honored to have been considered for a part in this movie.  Bringing light to mental health issues is so very important today and he hopes this movie could be a beacon to those who need it.Erik returned to acting after a 26 year hiatus in 2016.  More commonly Erik can be found on the stage at the Waterville Opera House having played Mother Superior in “The Devine Sister”, Edwin Greener in “Miss Holmes”, Dickie Bell in “Fox on the Fairway, and Wyatt in “Things My Mother Taught Me” and was able to mentor a student for technical theater working backstage for “Newsies”At the Aqua City Actor’s Theater, he as performed in “You Can’t Take it With You”, “God of Carnage”, “Almost Maine” and “Lip Service” At Port Fringe he played Ben in Carolyn Gage’s “Lighting Martha” and has filmed in a teaser trailer for “Essence”Erik is a Medical Examiners Assistant for the state of Maine.
